    Description

    This is a
    stunning
turn of the century (1900-1920) early Navajo "points of light" rug from the Four Corners region. It is in very good condition for its age, no holes and the colors are still strong, but there is some definite bleed around the red. There are soil spots, see photos. The colors are overall grays, browns, and grayish white, which to me indicates it needs cleaning. I've tried to show the colors as best as possible. Nonetheless, this is quite a lovely rug and the weave is thick, perfect for floor or wall use. Size is 28" x 48".
This rug has been stored in an airtight plastic container by the collector. I see no signs of bugs or mold etc. It probably needs cleaning as it's been stored for a while.
I am selling this and other rugs for a long-time collector. He is not trying to make a profit from these. He is a wonderful older gentleman who wants his treasured collection to be loved by someone who appreciates their value as artwork. As he says, "I care about them!" None of his family wants (or needs) the collection, since they have so many rugs already due to his penchant for gifting them! He has been collecting since he was 16, growing up in South Dakota. As an adult, he used to drive around to the different reservation villages, ask around who did what, stop by the artists' homes or trading posts, and buy their creations, or he attended auctions.
Please ask any questions. If I cannot answer them, I will ask him and get back to you.
